On Memorial Day, The Bridgeland Community Supports Veterans, Inc. (TBCSVI) held its annual remembrance ceremony at the Lakeland Activity Center to honor the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives in service to our country. A flag flown over McCalla Hill in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, from July 29 through October 14, 2016, was displayed in memory of all who have served in defense of freedom and democracy. Emilio Rodriguez led the ceremony, with prayers, remembrance, and a moving performance of Taps played by Mike McCurry. Ribbons bearing the names of fallen loved ones were tied around trees in the park as a visual tribute.

A display of the plans for the upcoming Bridgeland Veterans Memorial was also shared with attendees, offering a preview of how we will continue to honor local heroes in the future. The event served as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made and the importance of community remembrance.

We are especially grateful to the Scouts from Pack 329 and Troops 156 & 329 for their help with the ceremony, flag presentation, setup, and cleanup. Their support and respect added meaning and dignity to the day.
